A global financial services company contacted us and asked for help updating their contingency and emergency evacuation plans across their global office portfolio. The level of risk varied substantially, with locations in the Nordics to North Africa, with all analysis and needing to be standardised to allow for easy application by teams operating with English as a second language.

The Process

All office locations were identified and plotted, allowing for tailored risk assessments to be conducted on the local area. Each had different considerations, such as number of staff, road access, threat actors, and prevalence of law enforcement.  Many of these were congested cities, increasing the difficulty of manoeuvre and access to key airports and seaports.

The Result

As a result of these difficulties, multiple safe havens and exfiltration routes were provided to the client in clear order of preference, allowing for security teams in the ground to select which option best suited their situation. These were supplemented with further guidance, checklists, and ‘actions-on’ procedures to further support decision making an enable successful evacuations.

Outcomes

  • The client received tailored evacuation guidance, preferred safe havens, and exfiltration routes.
  • Evacuation risk management practices for overseas offices were standardised, allowing for simplified audit and improvement.
