Geopolitical risk assessment for a port operator in the UK

A major port operator in the UK contacted AnotherDay consultants and asked for assistance in understanding their exposure to political risks. Their position of responsibility for critical national infrastructure and integration with global supply chains meant that they were affected by risks across the globe, and faced with a increasingly uncertain risk level of exposure.

The Process

We held a meeting with the client to better understand their business operations, asset locations and critical concerns. These were then used to frame further research on both current and nascent maritime risks that would impact flows into British ports. This research was complied into a board paper in less than two weeks.

The Result

This report was issued to the company’s board for their quarterly meeting, along with a 30 minute presentation delivered by one of our consultants. This allowed the board the opportunity to ask questions, take notes, and gain further insights into how these larger, global risks would impact their specific operations.

Outcomes

  • A tailor-made risk summary was delivered at short notice to support company-wide decision making.
  • The client gained a full understanding of their exposure to global geopolitical risks, and how they would impact port operations specifically.
  • Consultants supported the product in person at the time it was used, providing immediate decision making support at the point of need.
