Case Study

Asset tracing following multi million pound fraud

Location:
US, Europe, Middle East, Offshore

Services

Overview

Our client, a large healthcare company, had been defrauded by another business for circa £50m. The individuals involved were based in London, but also had links with the Middle East, and other overseas jurisdictions including the US, Europe, and offshore.

The client wanted to pursue civil litigation, and needed to locate assets which could be seized before taking any action. Our investigation team were instructed to identify potential assets in these jurisdictions, and so we conducted in-depth research on open source, corporate record data aggregators, credit and consented databases, and obtaining local filings from various jurisdictions. Covert surveillance also linked the individuals with various properties, and identified additional assets that could be seized.

Outcomes for the client

  • Over £20m of assets identified in the UK, Europe and Middle East.
  • Corroborating documentation obtained to assist court applications.
  • A comprehensive report and case file created, to assist court applications in the UK.
