What can be learnt from the most recent NHS ransomware attack?

What's inside?

A recent report from Sophos has revealed a 94% increase in ransomware attacks on healthcare institutions since 2021.

Earlier this month, the UK’s National Health Service was once again impacted by a ransomware attack, causing widespread outages across a number of critical healthcare services, raising major fears that patient data may also have been compromised.

Against this backdrop, and as the ever-increasing number of attacks against other types of critical institutions (e.g. government agencies, educational institutions or key logistics hubs like ports and airports) have shown us, cybercriminals and now-notorious ransomware groups have shown little sign of abating in their efforts to disrupt and exploit the growing frailties in our global systems and supply chains.
