Spyware has had a huge impact on cyber security, with 2024 continuing to see issues related to the use and abuse of the tools. Whilst there is a use case for the legitimate use of spyware by governments, under judicial oversight, authoritarian and illiberal governments will continue to target activists, journalists and minorities for surveillance purposes.
